I went with my friend to her abortion appointment. As soon as we got out of the car, we could hear a man yelling at us with a megaphone. He was directly talking to us, telling us that we were sinners, that I was a horrible friend for letting my friend go into an abortion clinic, and that we would face the wrath of hell. In the moment, I wanted scream back at him, "This is none of your business. Why do you get to decide what she does with her life? Who are you to make these assumptions?" We ignored him and walked inside quickly, but that experience made me want to protect every person who walks into a clinic. No one should have to be judged by strangers when making private, legal medical decisions. This is why I volunteer with ProChoice Charlotte.
